Watercolour painting of an unidentified inn in St Albans with the Abbey tower in the background. The figures of an adult and two children area walking up the road carrying bundles and a wagon of hay stands outside the inn. This may possibly be The Beehive pub, Watson's Walk, St Albans. Dated 1878, not signed, though note symbol on bottom left corner. Note discolouration from light exposure visible in the tonal difference between the main part of the painting and the edges which were presumably masked from the light by a frame or mount.
Could this be a bad Buckingham? Location: compare with Holmes Winter PX1644 - could this be the Beehive? Note dormer windows and chimneys.
