Tudor Earthenware Vessel. Excavated at Grove Road, 1970. This type of red earthenware with specks and patches of glaze, was common in 16th century St Albans. It was probably made locally, was very cheap and is never mentioned in wills, although large quantities have been excavated. They would have been found in the kitchens of both rich and poor.
