Watercolour landscape of Evesham in Worcestershire, showing the tower of Evesham Abbey viewed from across the River Avon. A rowing boat with two people in it floats on the river. Behind the tower a village scene with churches can be seen in the background. Evesham Abbey was a Benedictine house in the 8th century, and became one of the wealthiest abbeys in the country. At the Dissolution the early 16th century the bell tower was bought by the townspeople, but the rest of the site was used as a quarry. Sir Edgar Thomas Ainger Wigram bart. (1864-1935) was mayor of St Albans in 1926.
