Etching showing Vincent Lunardi's hot air balloon on the first flight over England on15th September 1784. Text beneath illustration reads: "The Enterprising Lunardi's Grand Air Balloon, which took its flight from the Artillery ground, Sept.r 15 1784: Amidst the acclamations of 300,000 spectators. This wonderful machine raised to the amazing height of near three mules; continued floating in the air for three hours and then alighted about 5 miles beyond Ware, in Hertfordshire, 24 miles from London."
