Engraved and Published by S.W.Reynolds, Bayswater, February 24, 1818." Three quarter length portrait of James Walter Grimston, 1st Earl of Verulam (1775-1845), shown in robes with elbow on window sill or similar. James Walter Grimston was the son of James Bucknall Grimston, 3rd Viscount Grimston. He married Lady Charlotte Jenkinson in 1807 and had ten children. He was succeeded by his eldest son, James Walter Grimston, 2nd Earl of Verulam (1809–1895). James Walter Grimston was M.P. for St Albans from 1802 - 1808 and Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire from 1823 to 1845.
