Buckler, 1815, engraved by J.Basire. This was the former home of the Bacon family, including Sir Nicholas Bacon, father of Sir Francis Bacon. The Elizabethan house at Gorhambury was built in 1563 - 68 by Sir Nicholas Bacon. It was replaced by the present neo-Palladian house, built by the 3rd Viscount Grimston in 1777 - 84 to the designs of Sir Robert Taylor.
