Pencil sketch entitled "Neather Hall, near Broxbourne", showing the gatehouse of Neather Hall near Broxbourne. Signed "A. Tanner a son ami [french: "to his/her friend"] Alain, 15th Juin 1849!!!". Nether Hall was the home of the Colt family. This great 15th-century mansion was demolished in 1773, all except this gatehouse, which proved just too sturdy. The Colts’ fortune came from Sir Thomas, Privy Councillor to Edward IV. His brass is in the church. It was one of his daughters, Jane, who married Sir Thomas More.
