Commercially produced half-tone sepia reproduction of watercolour/wash drawing on cream card, 138 × 162. View from S, showing the Market Place as a larger expanse than it really is. The details of an earlier age are shown: the Fountain, carts and wagons, and people in very much earlier dress. The drinking fountain in front of the Clock Tower was designed in the 1870's by Sir Gilbert Scott and paid for by Mrs. Worley, a keen teatotaller. It was removed in the 1920's when it got in the way of traffic. The fountain has since been moved from in front of the Clock Tower to the rear of the Old Prison on Grimston Road.
