Tring Park (174X). By T Badeslade; etching by J Harris for John Rocque & T Badeslade's Vitruvius Britannicus (174X). The house at Tring Park was designed c 1680 by Sir Christopher Wren for Henry Guy, Gentleman of the Privy Chamber to King Charles II. It seems that Guy expected a royal visit, but it never came. The house and park are seen here under the ownership of William Gore, and typical landscape gardening has been carried out, including the constructionof a great basin and a pyramid. The town of Tring seems insignificant in the background.
