Colour postcard showing a half-tone reproduction of an illustration from a medieval illuminated manuscript (c.1326) showing Richard of Wallingford, Abbot of St. Albans, mathematician and inventor of the Rectangulus, the Albion and the Astronomical Clock. He is shown seated at his desk measuring with a pair of compasses. Wallingford's famous clock was completed by William of Walsham after his death, but apparently destroyed during the reformation. No postmark.
