Halftone print, 221 x 287 mm. Head and shoulders portrait of Sir John Blundell Maple (1845 - 1903). This portrait appears to have been published as part of a supplement to the Herts Advertiser to commemorate the opening of Clarence Park in 1894. Sir John Blundell Maple (1845 - 1903) made his fortune through the Maple furniture business, which he founded. He was also a racehorse owner. He lived in Childwickbury, near St Albans and founded the Sisters Hospital and Clarence Park in St Albans. He was a good friend of the future Edward VII, and MP for Dulwich.
