Wood engraving illustration cut from a newspaper, 126 x 85 mm. A view of Sir John Blundell Maple's house at Childwickbury, near St Albans. Sir John Blundell Maple (1845 - 1903) made his fortune through the Maple furniture business, which he founded. He was also a racehorse owner. He founded the Sisters Hospital and Clarence Park in St Albans. He was a good friend of the future Edward VII, and MP for Dulwich.
