Monochrome photographic print mounted on board, 195 x 150 mm (print size). No photographer's details. Seated portrait of Samuel Ryder wearing the mayoral chain and gown. He was elected Mayor of St Albans in 1905. Mr Ryder made his fortune founding Ryders Seeds, he opened offices and a floral hall for his seed company (the latter better known today as Café Rouge). He is best remembered, however, as founder of the Ryder Cup.
