Steel etching by George Cooke after a drawing by James Burton Jr., 1826. Later state lacking flock of birds roosting on the Clock Tower, on India laid paper, 108 × 149. St Albans Clock Tower viewed from High Street looking up Market Place. Label reads "Drawn by James Burton Jun[io]r / George Cooke 1826.". The source for several copy prints of this scene. Shows the shop in front of the Tower, the pump and a ?gas light within railings, and market in progress in the Market Place. Further down Market Place the old open-sided Market House can be seen. This building was knocked down and replaced with the Corn Exchange building in 1857.
