Monochrome photographic postcard, 139 x 88 mm. Portrait of two clerics posed outdoors with a bike c.1905, location unknown. An attached note identifies them as Rev. H. B. Worthington M. A. and Rev. Swainson, curate. A bike has been chosen as a posing aid in this photograph, a device much favoured by Edwardian photographers. The bicycle is interesting because, despite the un-metalled state of many roads at the time, there is no front mudguard. The state of the front tyre shows that there was plenty of mud about.
Wheeler and Stephens, p.71.
