Lithograph showing St Albans Abbey viewed from the South West across the fields of St Germain's Farm, which was part of the Verulam estate. This land was bought by the city council from the Earl of Verulam in 1929 and became Verulamium Park. Farmworkers can be seen in the foreground gathering hay or straw. Although unsigned, comparison with other known Buckingham lithographs and drawings suggests that this is also by J.H. Buckingham. The museum holds an unfinished watercolour by Buckingham which appears to be a preliminary sketch for this print (1981.3858).
