Colour postcard showing St Albans Abbey viewed from the East and Sumpter Yard with the cedar tree to the left. This cedar tree was planted by the Dowager Lady Spencer on the 25th March, 1803. The East end of the Abbey is the location of the Lady Chapel, which was cut off from the rest of the abbey church in the 16th century by the walls of a public passageway and housed St Albans School until 1871.
