Watercolour by J.H.Buckingham showing the scene on market day in St Albans, looking from near the Old Town Hall down Market Place towards The Gables, French Row and High Street. The cattle market in St Albans was held in front of the Old Town Hall, but occasionally cows would escape, creating some excitement among the stalls as seems to be happening on the left hand side of this picture.
