"Gorhambury, Hertfordshire." Engraving showing New Gorhambury House, St Albans. Drawn by J.P.Neale, engraved by W.Warwick. Published by Jones & Co., Temple of the Muses, Finsbury Square, London. Gorhambury House was built by the 3rd Viscount Grimston in 1777 - 84 to the designs of Sir Robert Taylor. The ruins of the previous Elizabethan house at Gorhambury, built in 1563 - 68 by Sir Nichola Bacon (father of Sir Francis Bacon) stand nearby.
