View of Hemel Hempstead (1822) Drawn by E. Burn, etching and aquatint by Stewart. Published London December 16th 1822 by E. Burn, sold by J.F. Girton, Hemel Hempstead. Until the arrival of the New Town in 1947 Hemel was regarded as a very picturesque spot, with houses nestling around the fine church spire in the valley of the Gade.
