Wood engraving illustration cut from a newspaper showing the view looking down School Lane (also known as Waxhouse Gate) towards the east end of St Albans Abbey and the Lady Chapel. This doorway at the end of the alleyway is the north entrance to the public passageway which used to separate the Lady Chapel from the main body of St Albans Abbey. Engraved by Smith from an original drawing by Prior.
