Watercolour by J.H. Buckingham showing the view looking down Folly Lane towards the junction with Verulam Road. A horse-drawn cart travels up the road while two figures, one on horseback travel down the road. To the left cows graze on the area which is now occupied by Victoria Park. Folly Lane was named after the fine 18th century house known as The Daltons or Dalton's Folly built at the top of the hill. This house renamed Bleak House after Dicken's book, some of which was written in St Albans.
