Medieval pottery cooking pot. This cooking pot has a lid-seated rim and sooting around base, but has no feet or handle. Some of the sherds are slightly discoloured by soil conditions. It is made of a type of glazed red pottery made locally during the 14th and 15th centuries. No kilns for producing this pottery have been found but it was probably made in the area around St Albans itself, because the largest quantities and the finds of the earliest date are found here.
