Women at work at switchboard of the St Albans Telephone Exchange, which stood on Marlborough Road. This photograph was taken at 1:15pm on October 8th,1959, on the last day when the old manual exchange was in use (it went out of use at 1:30pm). After this, the new automatic exchange opened in Liverpool Road. The women in this photograph are Lorna Edwards (left) and Muriel Millard (right).
