" A Plumper for Bell-Metal".Pencil, grey and pink washes. Seated, perhaps in the jury box, facing left, dozing. A plumper was a single vote given exclusively to one candidate at an election where the voter had two (or more) to give. Bowman was one of Daniel Bell's election committee, and is recognizable as a local politician in Buckingham's later cartoons, but does not appear in the Report … into the Existence of Bribery 1852 of the Commission, though Edwards describes his occupation as 'a gentleman'.J H Buckingham, [Bribery Commission Sketchbook 1851], [22v]
