Note written on the reverse of a monochrome photographic print showing Mr Sheppard Frere and Miss Wilson at the Bluehouse Hill / Verulamium excavations in 1958. Note reads: "Verulamium 1958. The Director - Mr Sheppard Frere F.S.A., discussing "stratification" of one of the trenches with Miss Wilson, F.S.A., one of his site-supervisors. Stone walls of roman shops of 3rd century in background. Pink [?] mortar floor of 2nd cent. in foreground."
