Monochrome postcard showing St Albans Abbey, the cedar tree and Sumpter Yard. The Abbey is seen here prior to Lord Grimthorpe's restoration work of 1880 - 1885, though the postcard itself appears to be Edwardian. This cedar tree was planted by the Dowager Lady Spencer on the 25th March, 1803. Underneath the tree, a coach and horses and a crowd of people are gathered. Postmarked St Albans Ap[ril?] 28, [19]03.
