Detail of a rubbing of the brass of Abbot Thomas De La Mere (1349-96) from St Albans Abbey. It is one of the largest surviving brasses in Europe, since most in England were lost during the English Civil War.
See: http://www.thegrid.org.uk/learning/re/virtual/cathedral/ 2000.6752, 2000.6761 both say that the original brass is in from of the High Altar [in St Albans Abbey?]. Note similarity to prints: 1994.175; 1994.176.
