Monochrome photographic print showing the junction of High Street, George Street and Verulam Road, St Albans. This building is now The Tudor Tavern, but at this time was occupied by E.S.Harvey's Cash Stores. Note advertisements and horse-drawn vehicles in front of the building. Before Telford's construction of Verulam Road in 1825, George Street was the main road into St Albans from the north-west, and before the rise of St Peter's Street, between the two world wars, it was one of the city's principal shopping streets.
