Close up of a human skull found at Folly Lane during excavations in 1991-2. This skull has clear cut marks on it, showing that it had been defleshed, possibly for ceremonial reasons. It was excavated from a pit near to the site of the royal burial at Folly Lane, suggesting that this area may have been a sacred site at Verulamium.
