Pen and ink drawing of the Eagle Lectern at St Stephen's Church, St Albans. n.d., unsigned. This bronze eagle lectern is also known as the Holyrood lectern. It previously belonged to the Bishop of Dunkeld and was plundered from Holyrood Abbey by Sir Richard Lee during an attack on Edinburgh in 1544. It was buried for saftely in St Stephen's churchyard, was then rediscovered in the 18th century and returned to the church. Its theft in 1985 was blamed on Scottish nationalists.
