Watercolour by J.H.Buckingham showing St Michael's Church and churchyard, St Albans with sheep grazing in the graveyard. The church is seen here in its original state prior to the restoration of the tower and west end by Lord Grimthorpe. The gabled building seen behind the church to the far left is St Germain's farm, part of the Gorhambury estate, which stood on the site now occupied by Verulamium Museum.
