Monochrome photographic print showing Gibbs & Bamforth shop, c.1900. Caption from "St Albans in Old Photos", p.67, reads: "Gibbs & Bamforth premises at the corner of Market Place and Upper Dagnall Street, c.1900. They were booksellers, stationers and proprietors of the 'St Albans and Herts Advertiser'. The building dates back to the mid-sixteenth century and was build as the town hall for the newly formed borough of St Albans. It remained the meeting place of the mayor and corporation until the Town Hall was built in 1830."
