Portrait of Councillor Samuel Ryder, elected Mayor of St Albans in 1905. Mr Ryder made his fortune founding Ryders Seeds, he opened offices and a floral hall for his seed company (the latter better known today as Café Rouge). He is best remembered, however, as founder of the Ryder Cup. Printed from a photograph by E. Cherry & Co., St Albans.
