PLEASE NOTE: THIS PICTURE IS NOT HELD BY ST ALBANS MUSEUMS AND IS NOT OUR COPYRIGHT. WE HAVE THIS COPY FOR OUR OWN REFERENCE BUT ITS IS NOT FOR REPRODUCTION IN ANY WAY WITHOUT SPECIFIC AND PRIOR PERMISSION FROM THE ROYAL ACADEMY. A preparatory study for Stonepickers (Midday). This drawing is held by the Royal Academy, London, though St Albans Museums hold the final watercolour painting for which the study was made. Information recieved with this image: "Pencil on textured cream and light grey wove paper ca. 1882 06/1288 (contained in Sketchbook 06/1248) A detailed preparatory study for the watercolour "Stonepickers (Midday)" (1882; Museum of St Albans, Hertfordshire). The study focuses on the standing foreground figure who carries a bucket in his right hand and raises his left hand to his brow. The stooping figure seen in the background of the painting on the right is also included in this study. There are some squaring-up marks and crosses to either side of the figure's head which the artist would have used to transfer this small study intact onto a larger scale."
