Preparatory drawing in pencil by Ian Howgate entitled "In Gentle's Yard, St Albans." Dated 27.6.[19]27. Appears to be a preliminary drawing for etching "Gentles Yard" (2005.5738), from an earlier stage than drawing (2005.5739), in which the position of the figure has changed to that seen in the finished etching. Gentle's Yard later became the site for Christopher Place shopping precinct.
