Southwest view of St Albans Abbey from Verulam woods with harvest scene in foreground. The Abbey is seen here prior to Lord Grimthorpe's restoration work of 1880 - 1885. The buildings between the harvesters and the Abbey are those of the Silk Mill on the river Ver at the end of Abbey Mill Lane.
