Cover of a book of knitting patterns produced by Scotch Wool and Hoisery Stores during the Second World War entitled 'Knitted Comforts for our Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen'. One of the ways ordinary people could 'do their bit' dunring the war was by knitting items such as hats, scarves, gloves and socks to be sent out to soldiers, sailors and airmen on active service.
