Monochrome postcard showing St Albans Clock Tower viewed from High Street looking towards French Row, The Greater Red lion Hotel and the Fleur De Lys, with horse-drawn vehicles in the street and Market Cross fountain in the foreground. The drinking fountain in front of the Clock Tower was designed in the 1870's by Sir Gilbert Scott and paid for by Mrs. Worley, a keen teatotaller. It was removed in the 1920's when it got in the way of traffic. The fountain has since been moved from in front of the Clock Tower to the rear of the Old Prison on Grimston Road. No postmark.
