St Albans Public Library, Victoria Street. This building was later converted into a public house. This library was opened in 1911 and replaced the library which had previously been housed in the School of Art (now the Maltings Surgery). It was built was the financial assistance of Andrew Carnegie, the Scottish-born American industrialist, who received the freedom of the city in October 1911 in recognition of his generosity.
