Colour postcard showing St Albans Clock Tower with the Greater Red Lion Hotel and Fleur De Lys Inn in the background, Market Cross fountain on the far left and coach on the far right. The drinking fountain in front of the Clock Tower was designed in the 1870's by Sir Gilbert Scott and paid for by Mrs. Worley, a keen teatotaller. It was removed in the 1920's when it got in the way of traffic. The fountain has since been moved from in front of the Clock Tower to the rear of the Old Prison on Grimston Road. Postmarked Shepherds Bush, S[e]p 7[?], [19]11.
