Watercolour painting showing St Albans Abbey from School Lane, prior to its restoration in the 1880s by Lord Grimthorpe. Not signed, no date. This doorway is the north entrance to the public passageway which used to separate the Lady Chapel from the main body of St Albans Abbey. This view is from the Abbey Cloisters, also known as Waxhouse Gate. Note workman with wheelbarrow on the right.
