Etching by Ian Howgate showing a view looking through the carriageway running from Christopher Yard (now Christopher Place shopping precinct) through to French Row, looking through to the base of St Albans Clock Tower. Note distinctive carved figure head on the right hand side of the entrance. The print is unsigned, though note monogram showing initials "I.H." in the bottom right hand corner. Not dated but preparatory sketches for this etching dated 1927.
Duplicate of 2006.6960 (not scanned). As detailed in letter from Howgate's widow Katherine - PX5572. See photo PX439, modern photograph of this figure head in Christopher Place.
