This is the view looking down School Lane (later known as The Abbey Cloisters, the passageway leading from Waxhouse Gate to the Lady Chapel of St Albans Abbey) and the east end of St Albans Abbey. The Abbey is seen here prior to Lord Grimthorpe's restoration work of 1880 - 1885, during which time the Norman turrets seen here were significantly altered.
