Large Medieval pottery bowl with green glaze. This sort of bowl may have been used for a variety of kitchen or dairy uses. It is made of a type of glazed red pottery made locally during the 14th and 15th centuries. No kilns for producing this pottery have been found but it was probably made in the area around St Albans itself, because the largest quantities and the finds of the earliest date are found here.
