Medieval pottery bowl or distilling vessel. This pot might be the lower half of a distilling apparatus but this is not certain. The rim has an unusual hollow shape and there was sooting around the base as if it had been heated over a brazier. This kind of pottery was not made locally but was brought from some distance away. It was made in the Surrey/ Hampshire border region, during the 15th century.
