Tudor earthenware chafing dish/food warmer. Excavated from 4a Chequer St, 1966. Hot charcoal would have been placed in it, and another pot rested on the lugs standing up from the rim. This gave a gentle heat for keeping food warm, or preparing dishes such as custards, medicines etc.
