Cross stitch sampler in cotton thread on linen. Stitched by Elizabeth [G??] aged 10, 1766. Alphabet and various motifs including birds and flowers within a decorative border. Text reads: "Tell me ye knowing and discerning new / Where I may find a friend both firm and true / Who dares stand by me when in deep Distress / And then his love and Friendship most express."
