Cross stitch sampler in cotton thread on linen. Stitched by [Ann ?], born 11 March [18]87, who would therefore have been aged around 8 at the time of stitching this sampler in 1795. Text reads: "Remember now thy Creator in the days of they youth while the evil days come not nor the years draw nigh when thou shalt say I have pleasure in them. Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right, Honour they father and mother which is the first commandment with promise. That it may be well with thee and thou. mayest live long on the earth. With all thy soul love God above. And as thyself thy neighbour love."
